Funding for early stage MSK businesses

ORUK was the first MSK charity to invest in early stage MSK businesses. It supports one or two MSK start-ups every year with ’seed investment’ in return for equity, through two routes:

  1. Companies can apply to the annual ORUK Ronald Furlong Fund which supports the development of innovative and commercially viable ideas from UK start-ups. Learn more.
  2. Entrepreneurs completing the ORUK funded MSK Innovation Accelerator programme, hosted by MedTech SuperConnector at Imperial have the opportunity to pitch their start-up idea to a panel of eminent clinicians and innovation experts. Learn more.

In addition to this direct investment from ORUK, the Joint Venture: MSK Innovation Network provides early stage MSK businesses with access to angels, VCs and other investors.

Joint Venture also works to attract more private and public funding for MSK innovation by highlighting the importance and commercial potential of the category.
